Overspray

Today I borrowed my husband's car and had it filled up and washed while it was in my care.   After I pulled out of the car wash I noticed that there were still some issues with visibility out the front window.   I took a good close look and wiped my finger across the glass to discover there was a thin film of oil on the window.   No, he was not frying bacon on his dash board.  He had the vehicle oil sprayed to prevent rust from forming in our Canadian winter.  Clearly the oil spray had spread out beyond it's intended location and deposited a residue on the wind shield.
Actually the oil sprays have a way of affecting every place the car goes for a little while.   It drips the excess oil.  The oil works its way through the vehicle and seeps out of little spaces.   Sometimes this makes the car look a little dirty, but it is good dirt since it shows the oil is working its way into the crevices that are most likely to get rusty without this protection.
Our lives can be just like his car and the oil spray. When we invest in ourselves for spiritual protection, for maintenance of our mental, emotional and spiritual health sometimes there is some overspray.  The over spray may not land where it is intended to be but it has an impact.  The good investment seeps out where we may least expect it and drip on others.   It can cover our whole life with a film of grace and emotional wellbeing.  This is a great byproduct of investments well made.  May I ever drip goodness, kindness, grace and love wherever I go.
