It was foggy this morning. Visibility was at about 300 feet. A thick white blanket covered the neighbourhood. The air was heavy and wet to breath. A thin layer of moisture hugged the furniture on the deck, the grass was damp, the wet fog had wrapped itself around everything. As I sat on the deck in the dampness reading the Word, meditating and journaling the mist and fog were burnt off by the warm morning sun. When I looked up from my contemplation I observed my surroundings and found that everything had become clear. The colours of the flowers were now brilliant, the greens of the tree tops were once again an intense contrast to the white sky. The air had become easier to breathe. The warmth of the sun took the chill off and the wet blanket of fog was banished. I had not been aware of the process happening. My eyes had been averted, occupied with other matters.
The physical sensation of that fog lifting matched the spiritual sensation that had gone on in my soul as the truth of the Word had penetrated my heart and mind during the very same time frame. The Son had brought a warmth that expelled the foggy coolness that automatically creeps in when there is any amount of distance from the Lord. I marveled at the physical surrounding imitating the spiritual refreshing which had taken place. Allowing the Lord to speak to me, to penetrate His light through my fog of selfishness and distraction made a significant change in how things looked to me. I am so grateful that God is present with me and wants to be a part of the daily renewal. He brings increased clarity and banishes of heaviness that comes from clinging to too many of the world's burdens. Let us acknowledge the Lord, he will come to us as surely as the sun rises. (Hos. 6)
