Recently I was talking with my grandson and he mentioned that he would like to go on a train ride, that he had never been on a train ride before. I told him that he had been on a train ride, a year ago when he was two. He was puzzled for a moment then asked if there were pictures. I said yes there were. He asked if he could see them so he could remember.
This interaction brought to mind the Lord's instruction to continually tell the next generation the deeds and laws of the Lord (Ps 78) so that the next generation would love and serve Him too.
We need continual reminders of what has happened in the past so that we will not forget. Like a photograph that helps us remember, the studied word helps us remember the goodness, counsel, and admonitions of the Lord so that we may rightly praise Him.
Lest we forget: Come before His presence with singing, know that the Lord is God, it is He who has made us and not we ourselves. Ps 100:3.
