Proclamations

The marriage of Prince William and Kate Middleton is all over the press.  Every night there is some little tidbit of news.  As soon as the palace announced their engagement the world began watching and anticipating.   Last night the report was that 2 billion people are expected to join in watching the wedding on live TV/Video feed.
The announcement seemed to change the focus of the world.
As I read the scriptures I see many announcements from Kings to kingdoms. In particular I marvel at the edicts of the kings of Media and Persia who made great proclamations in support of the rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem (Nehemiah, Ezra) and later in the rebuilding of the city and its walls.  They announced that they supported the work financially.  They released valued servants to undertake the work. They threatened those who could oppose the work.  In their pronouncements they also sought the favour of God.  They had a reverent fear (I won't comment on love or affinity here - only reverential fear)  of a powerful God and were bold in acknowledging His might.   They gained this fearful respect by witnessing a faithful and fearless following of God.   Daniel, Esther, Nehemiah, Ezra, to name only a few,  influenced these Kings mightily by their reverence of God.   As a result the kings of Media and Persia made sure that the world took notice. They made proclamations that impacted the world.
I sometimes wonder if, or who I impact on a daily basis through my faithful following.  Is the impact good?  Could it change the world, or even my world? Pondering still.  Prov 3:6: in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
