This vista is a marvelous thing, no not the PC operating system, vista the view, perspective or panorama. I really enjoy taking in a vista, they imprint on my brain when I have taken the time to really absorb what is before me. As a visual learner images stay with me. For example, I can close my eyes and see Pancake Bay on the north shore of Lake Superior. It is perfectly round, has a sandy and rocky shore, is cold and refreshing and displays the beauty of the north in a moment. If I just drove by I may be delighted at the glimpse of this northern icon, but it is in stopping that I gain the depth, intricacy and splendour of the north. Only then do I see the bent trees of the north pounded by wind, cold and the impact of the open water. Only then do I see the variation in the stones, boulders, pebbles that make up the shore line. Truly seeing it occurs in the stopping, in pausing and absorbing the wonder of the vista it may be truly appreciated.
My time with God is very much like this. I can capture a glimpse of Him and His work if I am mindful to look the right way in the right moment. It is however, in the stopping and pondering, taking in, exploring, opening my eyes and pausing my step that I see the intricacies of the panorama of Him in all His grace, beauty, craftsmanship, action and instruction. The wonder of God is impossible to explain in a moment or see fully in a drive by. It takes stopping and taking in His splendour.
1 Chronicles 16:29 ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
